Price Cuts!!!!!
Ranting: Alright guys sorry for not posting in a while. My mobo (evga 780i) just randomly died….. PISSES ME OFF!…. Anyway has anyone noticed the huge price cuts for the 9800 cards?!?! I mean holy ****! The GX2 is hovering around $280 and the gtx is under $200. Something big must have hit nVidia financially. I mean i bought my 9800 gtx just a week before the 280 came out (mistake on my part) for $300 and now that same card is $220…. Every day these cards are dropping like crazy. By the holidays these cards will be in the $100’s. Especially if ATI keeps their lead on nVidia for price to performance.
Now i would also like to correct myself on a previous post… I said that ATI is kicking nVidia in performance. When i say that i mean single card solutions. But technically (if you have way too much money to spend) the tri sli 280’s destroy to 4870.
Recommendations: As of today if you had to build computer now i say dont. Wait for the 4870X2 and see how the price tags react. I see the 4870’s dropping a couple bucks, not much but enough to maybe get a nicer case or something. But what nVidia does could decide whether to buy from ATI or nVidia. If i were nVidia i would be preparing for a major hit financially. With the upcoming release of the 4870X2 people are sure to drop any old cards and pick it up. They shoiuld lower their prices on the 280 so that if you were to buy two of them it would be just a bit more expensive then one X2. This is because in a benchmark test between two 4870’s and two 280’s the 280’s would have a slight edge over ATI’s gift from heaven. But for nVidia this would mean lowering the price of the 280 to nearly $300. And im not sure if their manufacturers could manage such a large price drop in such a short amount of time.
Anyway i will be posting some vids soon about my computer parts and of the rebuild i have to do when i receive my new 780i. Feel free to comment on the fight between ATI and nVidia. It will be interesting to see where we are by the holidays…
